Certified Translation

How certified translation works

  1. 01

    Send the document

A scan or a clear photograph of the whole page. No need to post anything or bring an original in. Tell us which language you need it translated into, and send every page rather than a sample.

  2. 02

    We send a fixed quote

Once we can see the document we reply with a fixed quote, usually same day. Nothing is estimated from a description, and the figure does not move once you accept it.

  3. 03

    We translate and certify

A human translator works on it, and the translation is delivered with a signed certificate of accuracy issued by us, stating the languages, the document and the date.

  4. 04

    Notarisation, if required

Notarisation is available through our partner law firm if required and will be quoted separately. You should check with the receiving authority on whether this is required.

Certified, notarised or apostilled?

Three different things, often confused. Each one is added on top of the one before, and most documents need only the first. Which one you need often depends on where the document is being used, locally in Singapore or overseas.

  1. 1

    Certified

We translate the document and attach a signed certificate of accuracy. This is what most authorities in Singapore ask for, including ICA and MOM.

  2. 2

    Notarised

A notary public attests the document and adds their seal. The notary is not checking the translation; they are providing the formal act an overseas authority recognises. Usually asked for by authorities outside Singapore. What a notary public does, and what it costs.

  3. 3

    Apostilled

A further stamp confirming the notary is genuine, for documents going to a country that accepts apostilles. Countries that do not accept them ask for consular legalisation instead.

Ask whoever is receiving your document which of the three it needs, then tell us. It is the one question worth asking before anything is ordered.
